We are a safeguarding school.

If you have any concerns about a child please see Mr. Francksen (the Senior Designated Person) or Mrs Mason (the Alternate Designated Person) who will be available during school hours for staff and parents to discuss any safeguarding concerns.

The DSLs can be contacted out of school hours by staff by using the contact numbers available to all staff on our Management Information System (MIS), Arbor.

If parents have safeguarding concerns out of school hours or during holiday periods then we advise:

  1. In an emergency with immediate risk to a child, call the police on 999;

  2. Alternatively, if you have an immediate safeguarding concern you can contact Customer First (Social Services) on 0808 800 4005 (free from landlines and most mobiles);

  3. Make an online referral to the Suffolk MASH;

  4. If you are worried about a child you can contact the NSPCC at 0808 800 5000 or make an online referral;

Or contact the Emergency Duty Service in Suffolk on 0808 800 4005

Keeping Children Safe in Education (KCSiE) 2022

Every person that works in regulated activity (roles that involve working with children) at Crawford's completes an Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. Anyone who is on the DBS barred list is prohibited from working in the school. For more guidance, please watch this helpful video: A Guide to DBS Checks.

Alongside completing DBS checks for all those involved in regulated activity (including volunteers), we also follow 'Safer Recruitment' protocols, including:

  • An application form, recording all employment history (including any gaps in employment);

  • Identity check;

  • Personal details recorded;

  • 2 suitable references (one being the most recent employer, where relevant);

  • The signing of the Disqualification by Association Childcare Act 2006.

We also ask all members to confirm that they have read, understand, and will comply with the policy, document, or following procedures:

  • Part 1 and Annex B of Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022;

  • Working Together to Safeguard Children;

  • Tilian Safeguarding Policy;

  • Crawford’s CE Primary School CP Procedure;

  • Whistleblowing Policy;

  • Code of Conduct;

  • Management of Allegations against a staff member or a person in a position of trust;
